Education

Education was one of the major interventions of TDA. To improve access, quality and equity in education eighty-Seven primary schools were constructed and furnished; school grants were provided to about seven hundred fifty primary schools to implement school improvement plans; sixteen war-affected primary schools were rehabilitated. School feeding programs that benefited around 32 thousand children in eighty drought-affected schools underwent. To improve the quality of education in secondary schools, fourteen schools were supplied with equipment, chemicals and books. In addition, tutorial programs were executed to benefit all the junior and secondary schools in the region. A special high school for the gifted students was established and encouraging results obtained. Prize award programs to high achievers were conducted to encourage healthy academic competition. Other education related programs were the implementation of Functional Adult Literacy pilot program for about nine thousand illiterates, and the construction and strengthening of eleven public libraries . Health

In the area of health, TDA at the early stage constructed sixty-three different types of health establishments. Of course later on, it shifted its focus to the programs of maternal and child health care, in reproductive health and family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, supply of medical equipment and drugs. The training of nine hundred ninety two Traditional Birth Attendants and Community Based Reproductive Health Agents and Influential Village Mothers were also some of its notable accomplishments More

Skill Training

To articulate the problems of food insecurity and improve house hold level income diversification through the promotion of on-farm and off-farm activities, TDA established two training and demonstration centers to train un employed youth in strategically selected fields of training that included basic construction, metal and wood works, carpet making, improved bee keeping, and general agricultural development and livestock production. The skill-training program benefited more than seven thousand food insecure youths and their family members. More

Agriculture and Natural Resource

Augmentation of nine rural water wells, the construction of ten micro dams, development of thirteen forage and vegetable seed multiplication centers, and the provision of thirty six thousand kerosene stoves to reduce indiscriminate cutting of trees were executed and handed over to local authorities More

Transportation
The initiation taken to construct two rural roads that covered sixty-two kilometers have opened up new areas, and the introduction of Bus Line Company consisting of 25 cross country buses have contributed a lot in the transport sector of the economy. More

Culture and Sport

Since 1993, TDA took the initiative and stayed ahead in bringing about a renaissance to shade light on the sport activities in the region that was weakened because of the prolonged and rampaging war that lasted for seventeen years. TDA established and made operational Circus Tigrai, football, cycling, and martial art. More

Conflict Resolution

The Conflict Resolution Project that lasted for three years accomplished tremendous activities with the intention that conflict resolution is an important strand running through development efforts. The project focused on trauma healing, mitigation of psychosocial stress and skill development for the people affected by the Ethio-Eritrea war. Contribution towards peace building process and creation of mutual trust among the peoples living along the border was the objective of the project. More
