Mekelle Institute of Technology (MIT) Graduated 140 professionals with Degrees

   Mekelle Institute of Technology /MIT/ graduated 140 professionals in Bachelor of Science Degrees in Engineering in four areas of specialization i.e. Computer Science and Engineering. Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Information Technology.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held on July 7, 2007 at MIT compound, professor Soori dean of the institute said that MIT was established in November 2002 as a higher education institution with the mission of producing the much needed professionals in the areas of science and technology. The dean farther said that the rational for the establishment of the institute is the fact that fast and sustainable development requires the application of modern technology for which skilled, trained and qualified manpower are the prerequisite. 

It was reported that out of 140 graduates 14 are graduated with very great distinction, 19 with great distinction and 22 with distinction Five of the graduates are females.

The National Regional State Deputy Chief Administrator, Abadi Zemo, Board members of MIT, Board members of TDA, invited guests and families of graduates attended the ceremony.  

Board chairman of MIT Desta Asgedom thanked all the stakeholders namely the Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigrai (EFFORT), Tigrai Development Association (TDA), National Regional State, Relief Society of Tigray (REST) late Aite Aray Zerihun and many other people for their relentless support for the strengthening of the institute.  

The chairman was also quoted as saying that the institute has made all the necessary preparations to launch three new fields of study as of next year and graduate 120 students annually.
